    No start on 96 328i

    Everyone,

For the past two years I have a problemm with this car not starting if it is below freezing outside. Above 32deg F it will start and not have a problem. It has baffled me and I didn't want to deal with it at a stealership. Read on here a few places about the main power relay in the fuse panel going bad. I did the typical check for spark and I had plenty. Checked the shrader valve at the fuel rail and it was dry. Couldn't hear the pump coming on in the tank either. Thought fuel relay. Checked the main power relay first though, figuring if it is bad it won't let power go to pump either. Took it out and used wifey's hairdryer on it and BAM!! fired right up. Thanks for all the info on this board and merry christmas to all.

This is why I routinely replace the main & fuel pump relays at 50,000 mile intervals. Cheap insurance.
