    Sensors

My car won't start...originally we thought it was the fuel pump, but it is working fine.
The sensors that came on were:
    O2 sensor
    CAM sensor
    Thermostat sensor
we cleared most of these and only the CAM sensor is on now
Any ideas on whether this is the CAM sensor or what??

    Thanks,

Is yours 99-01? THe T-stat code might be from

the short at the t-stat heater on top of thermostat housing. Disconnect that and check the 30A fuses by the DME under the cover- those get blown on the short.

Re: Is yours 99-01? THe T-stat code might be from

It is a 1997. I took it to the dealer and they gave me the run around...they found a blown fuse to the fuel injector - also found a blown fuse to the engine computer...replaced those now it fires, but runs like [Oops!] and stalls after about a minute - it also won't accept any throttle. Not sure what would cause the engine computer fuse to blow...unless there's a short somewhere (!?!?!?!?!)

The dealer thinks it's either the engine computer or the timing on the engine is shot. The dealership finally confessed after some time that they don't really have the skills or diags to work on the older models (97 - e38)....after costing me about $1400 in diag work !!!!!

Has anyone ever heard of the engine computer just going??

    Any suggestions?!?!?!?!?
