    Jack Points ??

    OK, moderately dumb question .....

I need to put the 540 wagon up on 4 jack stands for some work I want to do. I usually just use ramps for oil change, but now need all 4 up. I have a good 2 1/2 ton floor jack and if this was my GMC truck or my sons Charger I wouldn't have any questions. But ....... where is it safe to put a floor jack to lift front and rear ?? I don't want to come in from the sides and use the jack pads as I think that would put a torsional load on the car. If that is the way to do it I will, I'm just hesitant. Any advice is welcome.

    Thanks in advance, Vaughan

    Search archives: Jack Points

A ton of hits. Here's an example.

    RF search "jack points"

I wouldn't worry so much about twisting the unibody as using good structural points for both lifting and for the jack stands, since you can't use the same points for both at the same time.

I use the front cross member (there is a rubber bumper on my 540) and the rear differential and put the jack stands on the jack pads.Fritracer
