Air bag light is on
Need some advice. I replaced the tensioner on the alternator belt. It got a little crude as I needed multiple tries to successfully depress the belt far enough to slip the tensioner in place. All went well but the air bag light is now on and my Peake Scanner tell me the cause is the air bag contact on the tensioner - who knew? Can anyone tell me what to look for or how to fix this? Is there a wire or a contact I should be looking for and if so, exactly where? Many thanks, Ian

Re: Air bag light is on
I don't believe the drive belt tensioners have any electrical components. My guess is the "tensioner" related to the air bag in your code reader list is the explosive tensioner that tightens the seat belt when the air bag goes off. This tensioner is in the B pillar and is part of the belt retractor. Note that your air bag may not operate with the air bag warning light on. It may be pure coincidence that this device failed at the same time you were working on your drive belt system.
