Are convertible & hardtop gas tanks different?

Are the standard hardtop & convertible e30 gas tanks the same, & will an standard e30 hardtop gas tank fit in an e30 convertible & bolt up without any modifications? Also, do they hold the same gallons of gas?

no idea if the fuel tank from other 325i will fit, but the owner's manual compare many things between the 325iC and the 325iX, so probably the E30 tanks do fit among each other models.

Not. All the 'verts have a 14 gal tank, same as the earlier (63-89_ 325s. The 16 gal tanks from the later 325s will not fit. I tried ot switch my vert's and I can state conclusively that the 16 gal tsnk won't fit.
