Buy a 06 530Xi Wagon? Comments pro or con?

I am looking to b uy a 530Xi with 50K miles and all maitenace done at the BMW dealer. Good Idea? This will be my 6th BMW with my favorite the 87 535iS 5 speed. My 750iL is dead, may she rest in peace.

50k is low mileage for an '06. I have the '07 530xi sedan and am very happy with it. If you have access to all the service records and do your due diligence, you should be good to go. What are they asking for it? The E61s are pretty rare, so you may end up paying a little more.

In the past year I have replaced the Safety Gateway Module (dealer for $1,800) and the battery (independent for $400+ including diagnosis).

Owning one of these cars post-warranty is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Even when the battery problem cropped up in a total systems failure warning on the dashboard, it continued to run. The engine is bulletproof. The AWD system is great. Mileage is very good for a vehicle of this size. And, of course, it handles like a BMW should.

Mine has Nav, premium package, Logic 7, sport seats, sunroof, leather, cold weather package.

Thumbs up here - really loving the smooth ride and great performance of my 535xi wagon. The dealer did take it in to BMW to get the HP Fuel Pump recall replacement.
