2005 325CI Intake Manifold Expoldes AGAIN
Re: 2005 325CI Convertible
Car purchased new in 2005. Intake manifold exploded in February 2008 while cranking up; car was repaired under warranty. No cause given - alcohol in gas was mentioned, but some sort of O2 sensor was replaced a couple of weeks later as car ran poorly after repair. Intake manifold has exploded, again – exploded immediately upon the key switch reaching the position to engage the starter (that is, the starter never had time to engage.)
Car is now out of warranty. 51K miles. Always serviced by dealership. Always filled with high test fuel. Very well maintained. Never hot-rodded or horsed around. Literally owned by a 75 year old lil' old lady.
I will be asking BMW to cover the repair. I would appreciate any information about the history of this problem with this model. Also, any knowledgeable advice as how to persuade BMW to do the right thing.
Thanks for your input.

Sounds like your dealer repaired the damage from..
The first incident but they failed to troubleshoot and correct the cause. I've never heard of this problem before and for it to occur twice in less than, uh....any amount of mileage is unacceptable. Alcohol didn't cause the problem or you'd be reading many posts on this same issue since all US BMWs are burning alcohol laced fuel. If they don't cover it entirely, just get yourself a competent lawyer and drag then into a courtroom.
