    Power Steering Pump Hose

The hose from my Power steering pump to the reservoir has been leaking and I took it loose to check the clamp. I had to remove the large bolt holding it to the PS pump so I could twist it off the reservoir where the faulty clamp is.

Question: While contorting to get the damn thing off a small part fell onto the floor and I did not see where it came from. Does the small part in photo 2 go inside the hollowed out bolt as shown in photo 3? I feel like a complete idiot not paying closer attention but Im working in a single car garage and its very close quarters. At least that's my excuse this time.

Photo 3 shows how I think it goes.

Its a flow restrictor. It needs to be there; restrictions control pressure, and your pump is designed to operate within certain pressure ranges. Remove this and steering effort will increase as a result.
