Snow set perished in a pua-related incident....
but that doesn't really matter. My 17s with snows and the oe 18s don't fit over the stoptechs. I try to drive as little as possible in the winter but I have to make the occasional run.
The tire is still holding air but I'm scared to drive on it. Think I can limp it to the shop? 30 minute drive...

held air for the 15 minutes home in traffic?
I'd say it'll make it to the shop, but how about the spare? You aren't wearing white pants after Labor Day, are you? You should be able to change it in 15 minutes in the garage even with the car jack and lug wrench.
I'll call RimPro for you.============================================== ===========

Re: held air for the 15 minutes home in traffic?
Held for the 20 minute ride back down from 96th street, speeds of 0-50 mph and didnt lose any air.
Re: A spare
1) E46 M3s do not come with a spare
2) A spare BBS RS-GT with Tire would be $1,300 at a minimum
3) Would I have a front spare or a rear spare (staggered setup)?
Regarding changing it the car does not have a jack and lug wrench. I do have a floor jack, lug wrench, torque wrench and jackstands but they are up in my parents garage a half hour out of the city. I would have to go up, get the crap, go back, remove the wheel, throw it on jackstands, get a ride/take the train with the wheel up to Larchmont (40 minutes) drop it off, go baack to the city, come back and pick it up when ready, go back to the city, then install.
I'd much prefer to confine it to ride up, train back, train up, ride back but this bend is making me nervous... don't know what to do!
Everyone, this is why having a car in nyc sucks =)
Pua are you ready to sell me your LR yet?

wow - no spare... cheap POS car
find a neighbor with a lug wrench a jack and and some bricks. Mail the wheel to RimPro from the local FedEx store for a small fortune.
Maybe Pua is coming into the city some time soon.============================================= ============

ohhhh shis son. :(
I wonder if that's fixable? At least it didn't crack (yet). BTW, I'd bet you could pick up a single ebay 19" of random type, and a crappy tire that hold air on the cheap... but regardless, that sucks.
I feel for ya, I have no idea what I'd do if the monte lost a tire on the road, there's no way I could get the knockoff adapters off the front without an impact...

Was waiting for you to chime in...
Do you think it's driveable for ~25 miles or so to the shop? Still holding air. Barring any other big impacts of course. Won't hold you to it ;)
Not a bad idea on getting a cheap 19 for these circumstances but I'd have to pick front or back... still wouldn't solve the problem in the future.

Re: wow - no spare... cheap POS car
It's wierd I know but no one here has a car or tools. Anyone in nyc who can afford to keep a car certainly doesn't do any basic maintenance themselves... it's strange.
Rimpro is pretty good but they had a change in management and I actually prefer the local place I found. They do great work on high end wheels at a pretty good price. Decisions decisions... 5 inches of snow expected tomorrow so it looks like the car will sit over the weekend either way.

Re: a damn shame. those rims were perfect. (m)
Not sure yet. If anything I probably only need to replace the rim and can keep the center. It is a very sharp bend but I think it is fixable. It's not cracked anywhere, these wheels are incredibly strong. I hit this pothole/trench HARD. It used to be a small shallow divot before the snow last week. I drive this highway constantly and have every tough spot memorized, this one was brand new.

I'm just all gung ho about home repairs now...
I fixed my wonky snowblower yesterday.
It wouldn't engage the drive wheels so I took the cover off the drive train and found some sticky parts (from living outside) and applied some PB blaster and the clutch plate now moves ferrly again.
I also installed a new carb to finally fix the surging throttle that wouldn't run without a click of choke. I tired to rebuild the carb last year to no avail so I ordered a new one aned bingo - problem solved.
I'm feeling all Tim Allen-y.
