    735i idles too fast

My 1987 E32 idles at about 1000rpm. I travel at 35mph with foot off. Also it takes a bit off holding at the lights. I am told there is some component on the air inlet that controls idle speed and needs to be replaced. Is this true?

    Re: idle speed control valve

Thank you for your direction to the website. I did not realise there were so many controls that could cause the problem. I have been refered to a man who will ascertain which component is faulty. Let you know in 3 weeks.

    Cleaning the ICV

what you could do is take the ICV (easy to do) and clean well it with carb cleaner. Better yet soak it and let it sit for an hour..

well this is for an ICV that has too much carbon in it.. but won't work if your ICV is defeective...

    good luck,

    dan
