variable power steering ?
I have a '93 735iL and I wonder if it has variable power steering...meaning that the steering wheel get lighter at low speed and harder at higher speed..
On mine it's always the same no matter the speed. If it has variable power steering then something is wrong. (The power steering fluid canister is full and clean)
Could anyone please tell me what and where to check... a switch may be?

yes, it is variable
low speed or parking, high power, the higher the speed the less support.
In most cases the power steering module is defective, it is located behind the speaker driver side left hand drive in the kickpanel.
There are 2 different versions, the older one and the newer one, the older version is no longer available now and as replacement one needs a new control module and an adapter cable.
see the parts numbers at www.realoem.com
I have repaired some older ones but never touched a newer one.
There are 2 yellow plugs connected to the module, if you remove them from the module and plug the female and male plug directly together, there is always full support, no matter how the speed is. If that is fine, then it should be a defective module.

one of my buddies is electronic engineer
he built a testing unit where we can test the unit up to a theoretical speed of 400 kmh and he also has an osci to test.
Maybe/probably you do not have such equipment, therefore better try to get a used one.Shogun E32 Tech Tips: http://twrite.org/shogunnew/topmenu.html
