he said the mods have 20k miles on them

Glad to hear that - didn't want to learn that the coilovers have 80k miles on them.============================================= ============

Red Flags starting to pop up...

I located the original owner (Gary Martin of Martin Motorsports Inc in Alexandria VA) and he did all the original mods in 2002 when the car was brand new. So the coilovers and all other mods have 90k on them.
Car also has a new front bumper. The one on the for sale pics is different from RD one...
time to get some more answers from the seller.
I knew it was too good to be true.============================================= ============

    inspection came back 'very clean'

The only real thing the tech could find was a leaking PS hose. I don't think I've ever seen a BMW that doesn't have a leaking PS hose.

Suspension and steering all nice and tight. No signs of the damage from the accident.

I guess that's all good news. I was sort of preparing myself for a disaster of an inspection.

The only problem now is the bent rim. I can't drive it to Maine like it is. I've looked into a couple local rim places and they range from $100 - $150 to get the bend out.

I guess it's time to make an offer. The original link said 13k, the E46 fanatics ad says 11.5 and craigslist says $10.5.

I wonder if he'll take 10k. Maybe offer 9.5 and expect to settle on 10.=============================================== ==========

fly to DC - get a 600 mile drive back...

Should be a nice chance to get to know the car. Need to time it so there's no snow on the way.
Just got my new lighter plug for the V1.

yes - it's the Grey 330i with all the Racing Dyn

I tracked down the original owner who did all the mods. Super nice guy. I was like, I'm calling about an E46 you used to own... he was like 'which one? I've owned 8'. He has a small BMW shop in Northern VA. He did all the work, not Racing Dynamics, but he was a one-man-shop back then and didn't want the advertising since he couldn't handle the work so he had the article written like it was done by them.

The only flaw in the car as I can see is the nose. Due to an accident, it has a BavAuto M3 bumper instead of the RacDyn bumper so the kit is mismatched. I'm willing to overlook it since it appears all the other stuff is very tight. I'm looking forward to taking possession around 8:30 AM tomorrow and then getting 10 hours of stick time driving it home.============================================= ============
