    Re: All weather trunk mat

    Andreas,

The OEM all rubber (it is nice in my opinion) trunk mat is only about ~$90 at the dealer, it fits perfect (unlike other 3rd market ones you usually have to cut/modify to fit), and withstands tremendous abuse while still looking good years later. Most e39 owners over here have opted for this OEM version, and we have access to a large selection in Europe. Plus, on the OEM version, it says in big, bold letters "BMW", which looks sweet when you open the trunk.

That was probably me and I bought 2 from this

place. I like them a lot and you have choice of black, gray and sand color. I went with gray, like on picture. They're actually made for BMW by Macneil which is basicaly weather tech.

Try BMW of chattanooga mail order

I think I paid 60.00 3 years ago for the BMW mat. It has been a good purchase desision

You can find the email in the latest Roundel or call the dealer to get it at 423.894,5660.

When are you joining the club?

The dealer says it is offering very good mail order pricing. You have to email Brian with your information so he can enter it into the computer. They will ship the parts to you or you can pick them up.

At the last meeting at the dealer, they say they want to have better relationships with everyone including the do it yourselfers who may only buy parts. The new GM actually owns a BMW outright instead of the usual dealer company lease program. He came from Global in Atlanta where they have always had a very competitive mail orde parts program. Also the dealer is offering some sort of bottom line no haggle club pricing for new and used cars

Re: When are you joining the club?

I've been preocupied with my 13 month old girl, which doesn't live me much time for anything else. But, you're right, I really need to join.
Are you saying that they offer BMW CCA discount again. I've been getting really good deals on parts when dealing with Mike. I still work on BMW's when I have time. I guess, if I join, I can probably pick up few customers.
Thanks for letting me know about the dealer news.

They have always had the CCNA discounts

but you had to damn near demand it. And the Parts people have changed frequently the past 3 years so you had to talk to Brian or Mike to get the discount with no haggle. Now the idea is to enter us into their database of customers so that whenever we buy parts through brian via email or at the dealer we should auto"magically" get the discount which if by mail order should be better than the current CCNA discount. If you buy the part at the dealer your name should come up with a discount price no matter who you buy from. At least that is the plan.

We'll see if the dealer is trying to become more userfriendly.

But we need to grow the club and get some younger folks in there, read we need some life in the club. They have a few driving events scheduled in the spring one to builtmore estates and you could probably take the whole family if you choose. My son usually brings his 1 year old to the meetings as well as the wife. They both own BMWs and are quite taken by them.

New board members may help allot but we need a few new faces and ideas and energy. There were approximately 45 people who attended the kickoff of 2011. Of course there are meetings every week at a different dining establishment that you can also bring the family. We would like to have a few tech sessions as well and I believe they are in discussions with Eurasian fo use of the facility but who knows qhat insurance regs will do to that idea.

black or only grey? Also, I6 vs V8 trunk floors

Have a friend who wants to get the black OEM ones like I have. The Ebay link shows pics of grey, and I can't find anywhere on that page whether they offer black too.

    Eurodavid

P.S. It seems weird how you guys with later e39s (after 1996) seem to have different trunk floors than my I6 (or are the V8 trunk floors different than the I6s?). My trunk floor is dead flat all the way across to the wheel well wall, with only a side bucket in each rear fender well. That trunk mat shown in the Ebay link would slide all over heck in my car. In comparison, the OEM trunk mat that came with my I6 fits all the way completely across my floor and tight up against the rear & buckets.

The one I b ought at the dealer fits snug against

all sides of the trunk and is black with BMW name on it.

Not sure if this may be the reason for discrepancies and I cant remember if early e39s, late e39s, or all e39s had them but those tie down points in the floor may be the reason. I cant even remember if my floor has tie down points, guess I will have to look. I do remember that my last year E34 had them as I used them all the time with those rubber straps that came in that car. But some mats may be made to clear those areas. My e39 mat just covers the entire floor with raised outer edges all around to contain spillage.

Yah from the description, this one sinks into the spare tire, says mat is for trunks without loading floor, which im assuming is the spare tire cover. its exactly what i wanted
