If you go to RealOEM for E36 (sedan only) under restraint system and accessories, the number for the ski bag is the same as in the ebay auction. Not sure what you're saying: What doesn't jive with what?

Apparently my convertible has a different p/n, i would not have thought that, good to check p/n's. Can you think of a reason why it would be different, i thought the seats were the same.

I have never owned a BMW cabrio, so I don't know how the rear seats and supporting sheet metal structure differ from the sedans. I am not too surprised that they are different though, considering the folding top tucks behind those seats.

Hmmm, I've just noticed now after looking thru Parts OEM that the cab rear seat upright is a one piece unit(I knew that) but the sedanis 2 separate uprights, guess that explains a lot.

    Re: ski bag??

On E39's, the fold down rear seat was a fairly rare option and came with the ski bag. There were a few inquiries on the RF board about what it would take to install the ski bag in an E39 without fold-down seats. Replies pointed out the solid, one-piece upright and the requirement to saw a hole through that.
