    ECM reset question ?

I replaced my CCV system. while doing that I had to take the throttle body off. In the Bentley Manual it says when you put the throttle body back on you have to use the BMW scan tool to reset ECM adaptation values. I did not disconnect the plug on the throttle body just moved it out of the way.I don't know why I would have to reset it? There would not be any power going to it with the car shut off while I worked on it. My scan tool for codes does not have a reset for ECM? The car runs fine except for a little less gas mileage on the computer. 1-2 miles less per gallon but, it's winter here
    Thanks ahead of time, Steve

I think you're ok. If your current one is bad and

you're putting new one in or if you turn the ignition on with current one disconnected, that's when you need the scan tool. This is just a guess, I'm not 100% on this.

    No reset needed.

No, you don't have to reset the adaptions.
That's only required if you fit a new throttle body. The adaptions mentioned are to do with manufacturing tolerances when a new throttle body is fitted. All throttle bodies are not equal. The engine ECU/DME has to learn the new throttle body tolerances.
You need BMW software such as INPA to reset the adaptions.
