Speed limiter on 2001 M-Roadster??
Looking for confirmation on some stuff I read....
1) There is a speed limiter on Z3M's at 155mph.
2) The speedometers are off by 7ish percent.
Was on a loooooong, straight and empty stretch of road tonight and decided to crank it up. First off the convertible top sure whistles very loud at speed and just gets louder and louder the faster you go. The little beast just kept pulling and pulling all the way. I was expecting to get to 155 and have the electronics kick in but it just kept on pulling. Was at 162 on the speedo when I decided enough was enough and took my foot off the gas peddle. As it slowed down below 100 felt like I was going uber slow.

According to a BMW TIS in 2000, speedo error is
The maximum permitted speedometer advance is 10% of the actual input speed plus 2.4 mph.
Using max error, your displayed spped of 162 could have been an actual speed of a little over 145. My 99 2.3 is off by almost the max allowed by BMW. GPS shows actual.
Do not know about the speed or rev limiter.
