new washing machine
gotta buy one. Hate the LG front loader as it always leaves the clothes moldy smelling despite vinegar/bleach/HE detergents, etc etc.
Thinking of going back to a tried and true top loader and someone on here recommended the Speed Queen units (commercial laundrymat machines but w/o the coin op). Looking for suggestions.
The LG has proven unreliable as well, on its second circuit board. Sometimes heavy duty old school appliances just work.

It's a POS. Class action lawsuit.
against Algae for this fine unit. Sooooo tired of this thing that takes forever to run a cycle, doesn't clean worth a schit and has an eternally stinky gasket and water in the bottom of the machine.
Door always open.
Every additive known to man run through this. Gasket cleaned manually frequently
Joined the lawsuit a year ago and will like get a rebate on next POS LG unit they push at home depot.
2 circuit boards and now a constant error messaage that there is inadequate water pressure.
OTOH, the schitty cheap azz Roper at the beach house pumps right along like a champ.
I don't GAS about water efficiency as the 6 loads a week don't add up to much relative to total water usage.

i'm with you....
our FL is ok now that we have erected a shrine in front of it; look to the east, kneel and pray twice in front of it daily; never raise our voice in its' presence and grow our own plants to then condense into an herbal based organic earth friendly detergent. Oh, forgot, we don't actually use it for cleaning clothes but apparently we cannot get rid of it for all the bad karma that would bring upon us
In vero, I left the 2 antique looking top loaders from whirlpool ( or sears w/i the same anyway) and I bring all my dirty clothes up there and wash them, Machines run perfect, clothes are perfect, happy ending.

I read about the LG when they were on sale
last year. The newer models are supposed to fix the issues. I have the Bosch 500Plus and haven't had any mildew or smell issues in over a year, since new. I do wipe the seal down with a towel when it's humid out, otherwise just leave the door ajar. The seal does have 3 holes drilled in it on the bottom. Maybe that addresses the mildew issues, but I do remember reading the LG's were collecting it under the drum, especially if the wrong kind of detergent was used.
Good luck!

dont ask me how i know but do you take the
boot off around the inside where the door shuts? if not do u at least reach in and clean where the standing water sits? that [Oops!] in there gets nasty and my wife bitchez all the time about it. the only downfall to the front loader we've had for 5+ years.

Front loaders are better than top loaders.........
Top loaders destroy clothing very quickly with their agitation process. Front loaders are more gentle to clothing and hence your favorite t-shirt and jeans will still be nice years from now. Just think if dryers were top loaders agitating the clothes while adding heat...what a mess.

Where'd you get that idea? That's nuts.
Dryers are front load because the heat source is at the bottom. If they were top load, items could sit at the bottom and catch fire. Heat rises, and that's why you wouldn't put the heat source on the side...that's inefficient.
Agitation is agitation. Clothes don't give a [Oops!] whether it's in the vertical or horizontal axis.
