    Oil light

My yellow oil light goes on for about 5 seconds before going out. Oil is good and full. I assume it is because I have not driven it for about 3 weeks and oil had settled on bottom. Is this a ood assumption?

Oh, by the way my northern friends, 74 degrees today and top is down.

Does the oil light come on briefly after you've turned the car ON? If so, then the oil level sensor is going bad.

Slighly off topic, but oil light reset trick

Was just informed by an old mechanic at Jiffy Lube that it is possible to reset the oil light by using a coat hanger. With the key in the on position, touch the #7 pin (in the round receptor that the oil reset tool uses) with one end and grounding the other end on a bolt somewhere in the engine bay. Anyone tried this? Maybe it would solve your problem?

Don't think oil light reset is the issue here

The oil light coming on is a very different issue from the "Oil Service" light illuminating. \

That trick has been around for years. Some say, "works like a charm", others "danger Will Robinson". :)

Reset Instructions for Oil and Inspection Service Lights for 15-pin and 20-pin Diagnostic Connectors

    1. Turn the ignition switch to position two (2) ~ Do NOT start car.
    2. Connect one end of wire to a good ground.
    3. Connect the other end to Pin 7 of the Diagnostic Connector for the prescribed amount of time:
3a. Three (3) seconds to reset Oil Service lights
3b. Twelve (12) seconds to reset Inspection service lights
    4. Disconnect wire.
    5. Turn off the ignition switch.
