"Rainfall" shower heads... worth having?
Looking at a bathroom remodel and it's on the menu of crap to do. Seems stupid to me. Anyone have one of these things in the ceiling of the shower? (Presumably in addition to a normal shower head.)

Here's my take, for what it is worth.
Do you know that feeling where it's raining really hard and you can't keep the water out of your eyes no matter how you tilt your head. You think to yourself, I wish I had a raincoat with a hood, or an umbrella. It's kind of like that, but warm.
Maybe my experience is different than others. I am tall, so pretty much every shower I have ever taken, before remodeling my own bathroom, required me to purposefully lean my head under the shower head. I had a lot of control where the water went, and when it went there. When I used a rain head shower, I felt like I was taking a shower and being annoyed at the same time. When I remodeled my bathrooms in my home here, I installed the new shower heads at 7ft. I still control when and how my head gets wet. I do not like showers with rain heads, or multiple spray heads for that matter. For me the shower hierarchy goes something like this:
The best thing I have at the moment is a decent shower head, with the flow restricter removed, and good water pressure. The better thing from there would be to be hand washed by hot naked women.

Thanks, that's what I thought....
Sadly not enough room for multiple hot chicks.
In fact not really enough room for two people to get clean at the same time. Definitely room to get dirty, though :-)

Kohler Has Some Bom As* Shower Heads..Next In >
line would be Moen or Speakman. If you gotts buku bucks to spend go with Hans-Grohe.
All models mentioned have them in rose spray so they won't feel like what Grimlok mentioned about hard droplets falling onto you.
I like your idea though of the women doing all the washing. Remember Eddie Murphey on "Coming to America"?

i have both in my main shower
I actually like the rain shower and use it everyday. I don't get annoyed by the constant waterfall and like being completley covered by water throughout my shower. When I need to shave or get my eyes clear of water I just stick my head out of the range.
My wife on the other hand doesn't like it mainly due to the pressure not being strong enough to get all the shampoo out of her hair, so she uses the shower head.
Just make sure you have enough pressure to properly feed the rain shower head and make sure you get one a rain showerhead that is fairly large. I think I have a 10 or 12".

Yep--rainfall shower heads annoy me...
They pretty much feel like you are standing facing the shower the whole time so you can't open your eyes or breathe. You have to step out from under the shower to catch a breath or open your eyes. I much prefer an angled shower head throwing lots of water out.
