    Isn't a shotgun cheaper?

for the kimber? yes - the one that replaces the

recoil spring guide rod. lasermax, iirc

I've shot ones with the grip switches and I don't like the feel at all.

    Nay.

I'm not a fan of lasers...they take forever to spot the little dot, and it gets worse as you get farther from the target. The handgun is about fast target alignment, and I'm much faster with on-the-gun sights.

Go with night sights, or spend the money for one of the small pistol-sized red-dot sights.

Don't forget, you still have to aim.

A shotgun spread at in-home distances is about the size of a tennis ball. You still have to aim it.

I think the red dot on the bad guys chest is very

likely to turn him around and on his way without anything more needed in most cases. If not be prepared to pull.

Red dot may still not wake you up

    Unless you mount it backwards

Easier to see red dot when half asleep?

Up close & personal, yeah, but at distance?

    Re: pffft

That's no joke. Spend the money on a tactical trainer and some ammo with range time. But I like toys too, my personal favorite is the 300 lumen OLED rail mounted laser rail mounted under the barrel on my glock 34 long 9mm:.::::::: It essentially blinds them before you decide to ................... Plus its detachable and you can always use a small device that produces daylight instantly. I use lasers to align suspensions on my race car and aircraft/ weapons sights. Not speedy target acquisition.

Second only to a pump shotgun being chambered...

... in a dark room. Best case scenario in both is that they turn and leave.
