Re: That is not an M3, That is is a 330is that they
That's the standard answer/response from those that simply don't understand the car. The U.S. e36 M3 was a mid-5 second (0-50) car and was faster compared to its competition that the e30 M3 (a slug by any other name) or the e46 were. Interesting ha!
The e36 M3 had no peers from Audi, Lexus, Infinity or whatever other stupid car company you want to throw in; the e46 M3 did. Furthermore, the e36 had all the handling bits of the Euro car and was; in fact, crowned the best handling car in America by one of auto rags. To me handling is far more important the whether my car has one or six throttle bodies (BTW, I'm the original owner of an e24 M6 and a Z8).
For pure fun, i.e, relatively low weight, power to weight ratio and understated styling, the e36 M3 will go down as the best all around car BMW ever built.
BTW, check the racing pages in Roundel and you'll see that e36 M3's win 70%-80% of all club races. The e30 M3 was a very good handling car, but was an unsophisticated slug (yes, I owned one). The e46 M3 was a fat pig.

Sorry, I typed as slowly as I could.
Where did I say that the e36 M3 was faster than the e46 M3? R e a l s l o w n o w, what I said was that the e36 M3 was faster than ITS competition, where Audi (and maybe others) actually made cars that were faster than the e46 M3.
Other than the drivetrain and the floating rotors, what were the differences between the U.S. M3 and the World M3?

LOL.
OK, realllllyyyyyy slow
So e36's winning in CR...ergo faster...laughable.
e36m3's are classed in I for stock and prep. The s52 puts them in C for mod. e46m3's are classed in H for stock and prep so they don't compete against e36's there, except for LTW's. Apples and oranges, much?
In mod, the comparison is equally stupid. 1st, the motors in mod resemble stock as much as an f22 resembles a piper cub. Better yet, the really competitive e36's are running...you guessed it...s54's.
Differences in the euro included control arms, for starters. Shock valving, stock alignment was different too.
But hey, you owned them all and read Roundel. Who am I to say?

It is interesting then, that they are listed in
the same column, as first place... e36 M3, second place... e36 M3, fifth place... e46 M3. Maybe it's just several years of misprints. Also, you are incorrect about the suspension, but you are the man with all the answers, so rock on.
I should have known better than to argue on the Internets. You know what they say, "Winning an argument on the Internet is like winning in the special olympics..." You win (but what I said about the e36 M3 is still right).

And for the record, I was stating fact not calling
names.
Satch is a child molester has has the dubious distinction of having a law named after him.

The girl involved in the charged case was 17, not all the other 3 were.
Control arms - it's my understanding that the catalog isn't accurate. This is hardly a surprise since there are lots of errors. They used soft copies of the motorsports parts which have different geometry primarily to lower the roll center. The 96+ arms came from the euro...the arms were different. Bolting up 96+ usa m3 arms to a 95 euro chassis doesnt work though and not just because of caster.
And I disagree regarding the GT car thing but that's just an opinion. No doubt the e36 was a great car but the e46 was better in every way. The only way to say an e36 was a better car than the e30 is to point out that the e36 had more hp, a more comfortable ride, and more interior lux. If that's the argument, the e46 kills the e36 on that basis. Just IMO though.
