Has anybody used "Febi" tie rods on their 540
as a replacement. They're cheaper that TRW or Lemforder and they are TUV quality part according to their website. I'm interested in any positive or negative experiences with this particular tie rod brands.
I'm about to replace front struts on my 540 and since I need alignment thereafter, I figured I'll instal new tie rods as well.

Used Febi rear wishbones - didn't last as long
The rear end felt a little weird and squirrely for years now. I put Febi rear upper wishbones on in mid-2005. Only just last summer did they "fail enough" to finally fail a yank test (and ground a PS2 down to the wear bars). This is premature compared to Lemforder.
On the other hand, Febi should be better than Karlyn.

Re: Used Fabia rear wishbones - didn't last as long
That does sound premature. Price difference is about $30 for set compared to Lemforder, so it's probably you get what you pay for. I probably should take the safe route and go with Lemforder, especially since there is alignment cost every time you replace them. Thanks.
P.S. I don't if you've used your HF tool yet, but mine worked like a charm on 528 tie rods during struts replacement. I've just tightened it in 10 min. increments and it popped them out in no time.

I have to tear down the dish, pack it and ship it
all back, I AM DONE WITH THE DISH!!
I think Adam will be there. If I can get it all off ad packed, I may be there.
The Febi parts worked just fine in the E34s and I dont believe the exhaulted E39s would care either. I did not use the steel parts as the E34s I had used the aluminum arms just like the E39.
Oh wait I have them in my E39 right now with 70,000 miles on them. Bought them on eBay for 120.00 total for right and left side including shipping. I am way over throwing the most expensive parts at these cars. Thes parts are easy to change and appear to have lasting at least as long as the "German" parts.
The replacements from the dealer lasted just over a year and they would not replace them even though they had only been driven about 30,000 miles. I decided then I would go my own way those type parts from then on. So in that respect the FEBI's have lasted almost twice as long as the dealer installed parts.
