No high beams
I did a search, but didn't find an exact set of symptoms like mine.
So, I bought this car and it has obvious electrical rewiring issues. Car was in an accident and whoever put it back together wasn't a perfectionist.
That said, the headlights look fine to me.
Low beams work fine.
I have the ability to pull the stalk and get the passing flash beams. The high beam light goes on on the dash.
Pushing the stalk does nothing. No high beams and no light on the dash.
I'm thinking of just getting a used stalk for $50 from Bavarian Auto Recyclers to see if that's the problem, but figured I would ask you guys first for any diagnostic suggestions.
All ideas are welcome.
Also, I'm not a very experienced wrench spinner, so any difficult questions or procedures may be outside of my abilities.
Thanks.=========================================== ==============

Always give the exact year and model of your
car and throw in the mileage when asking a specific troubleshooting question. And in this instance repeat the kind of headlight set up you have? Different answers for different configurations.
Good luck getting a mechanic who really understands electricity.

Don't know my light setup. Trying to find out how to figure that out.
The corners are Depo, so I'm afraid that's what the lights are too. They are definitely well-aged plastic lenses so I'd guess they were either OEM or put on the car very soon after it rolled out of the showroom.========================================= ================

Arrived yesterday - didn't get to post a thank you
Thanks a ton. They are about 1000% cleaner than the ones I pulled out. I hope you visit Maine some day to receive some payback. Beer, lobster, or golf?============================================= ============

so here's what I've gathered...
My headlights are those Depo P46 things and my car is probably wired and coded for BiXenon. But, the Depos don't have the cutoff thing in the projector for the high beams. So my flash beams come from the regular halogen bulbs, but the permanent (push stalk) highs are trying to tell the solenoid to move the cutoff, but it doesn't exist.
I've been told I need to get my lighting module recoded. Does this make sense to anyone?
Anyone know where to get coding done?============================================= ============
