    whatever the little woman feels

Having said that.. Most used four inched barreled 38 revolvers (Colt or S&W) will fit neatly into a moderately sized hand. Easy to load, shoot and maintain.

And you will always be able to get your money out of it on a cannon upgrade.

    I'm not a romantic. I don't see what the 1911

has that makes it so much better than a .45 Glock.

#1 thing is ability to customize

aside from the trigger spring, not much you can do with a glock that if it doesnt suit your taste.

i can see that from the perspective of a toy gun

something like a convertible or race car, that you play with because you like playing with it.

For my defense gun, I want simple, cheap, and effective.

    Just my opinion.

That's the one my wires gun is in.

The one I've got was manufactured for a gun range here and they're out of business now. No idea where to get one now.

Hey-his post made it sound like...

...he MIGHT not be all that familiar with firearms. When you have kids in a house, you can NEVER be too safe with firearms. IMO, it's a moral responibility. If he IS familiar, then NEVER MIND!

Too much and too small for Mr. Gogo's needs amigo

That is a concealed carry pistola. Gogo's requirements are much more simple.

Colt's .45 ALWAYS works like a hose compadre!

Sure it's traditional and it's waht many are familiar with. Personally I have no objection to either the Glock or USP... if that's what, dare i say it, trips your hammer. Own a couple USPs and that double-action first squeeze is very nice in a pinch. Just have never cared for that creepy trigger on a Glock. ;)

But the original poster wants a good handgun recommendation for a novice. 9mm is too small and a .45 would be a tad much for him at this stage of the game. .40 if he rolls automatic which I also believe he should reconsider in favor of a revolver.

    Do you have one?

How do you like it? Is it accurate?
What don't you like about it?

    Thanks.

    Yep. Love it.

First handgun, love it. No jams to date, minimal recoil and good looking to boot. Multiple hand grip backs to fit various sized claws and included extra clips make it a nice buy. Feels good in the hand - cannot comment on accuracy as my target shooting is still in the coming up to speed stage, but reports seem to point to very accurate shooter. Also make a nice .40 in same form factor.

FN is also built in the U.S. and has made some nice arms (SCRAR) but is probably more familiar to the XBOX crowd than sportsmen. The Five-seveN 5.7x28mm also had some "press" last year with that military shooting down south.

    Good forum here:

His post made it sound like he's not that familiar

with Berettas and Glocks, not guns in general. Do you even know that he has children? Or are you just proposing hypothetical situations where you can inform others of their moral obligations? Besides do you have to be familiar with guns to know to keep them away from children?

Anytime someone posts something about a car do you chime in a make sure that their kids are wearing seat belts?
