    Around 50,000 casualties in the 3 days of fighting


    Historians place the number of about 8000 being killed outright through combat. Amazes me that I three of my direct ancestors in fought there. Two survived the war which is why I'm able to post here this evening. ;)

    Gettysburg is a very interesting and moving place to visit. This year is the Civil War's Sesquicentinnial by the way. Check it.
