I just pulled the trigger on a 323 ic. While I've had 8 BMWs, I've never owned a 3 series before.

I am amazed with the driving experience of this $5k car. It is the best driving BMW I've ever had, and it has more than 100,000 miles on it. The 2.5 liter motor pulls strongly and smoothly. The car is tight and handles incredibly.

The car is unbelievable. I'm looking forward to many miles of driving pleasure.

And if all that weren't enough, I was even able to get an "E36" personalized plate---I can't believe it was available.

Anyways, I'll be lurking around enjoying the E36 banter...thx

This board is getting quieter and quieter, as expected with the numbers of "living" E36s diminish. If you don't get a response to a question, you can always check the archives; There is information there on almost everything you might encounter with an E36.

Been around the board for maybe 10 years +, it's been good and the car is great, still looking to pick up another low mileage e36. As JKRIT says it sure is getting quiet around here, archive will be a great help, if you wait for an answer it may take weeks. Have fun.

Aaahhh spoke as a true patron...not only a 323 is, but an M3!!.

I looked at a very nice e36 M3 in southern cali during my quest..beautiful car with high zoom factor...lol

Yeah, I know what you mean by dimmishing numbers...that was sort of my motivation for getting one.

I think some of the other e36 message boards might be more active. I've only looked at a few briefly but I got the impression they were a lot more active.

It is indeed a great car. I can't give it up even though I could find more cost effective transportation (despite doing my own maintenance and not having a car payment) and free up a lot of my time. When it comes down to it, I really don't want to drive anything else :)

Newer BMW's have small improvements in performance, comfort and efficiency.

But they're also far more complicated, heavier, expensive to repair and maintain, and less fun to drive.

My rusty old 325 with 251000 miles has everything I want in a car. It's still a great drive and still reliable.

Not that I could afford it if it was available, but if I could pick anything, that would be it. And then add a nice turbo system :)

You could probably find a "5 year condition" e36, i.e. relatively low mileage. But they're rare and their owners will probably want more than they're worth, and more than you'd want to pay.

Took a drive up to the top of one of the area mountains this weekend...hehehe. I wanted to see what the ol' girl could do. I gotta say, it was like driving the hottest go-kart around. Not sure if I every got out of 2nd gear and banking 15 mph curves at about 30...it felt as if I was pull G's...lol

I am enjoying the heck out of this thing...I hope I don't break anything, but so far she's a tight as can be, steady and sure footed.
