In light of the recent 8-1 Supreme Court vote, Kipling's words are more meaningful than ever. This is an emotional issue for me since my father came back from Vietnam in a metal box. Rationally, I am a firm believer in free speech, and I recognize that my father chose a military career to defend the Constitution and protect those rights.

On the personal side, I am disgusted. Free speech works both ways, so people who desecrate flags or protest military funerals should be put on notice from everybody who believes our armed forces deserve a "Bravo-Zulu" instead of torturing their widows and orphans!

For me, it has involved micro-blogging about it. Also, do what you can to show appreciation to the troops. Don't commit a crime.

Maybe busloads of people should show up for Sunday worship there in order to excersise their own free speech rights.
