Question about the Mustang GT 500..........
550 hp 510 lb-ft...why is the car so slow? It's really not that much faster than the five point oh GT, yet it has 140 more horsepower and not much more weight. Is it because of the supercharger that it really only makes big power for a very narrow band?
BMW M3 Motor Trend September, 2010 Issue:
0-60: 4.1
0-100: 9.1
12.6 @ 113.2 mph quarter mile
GT 500 Motor Trend latest issue
0-60: 4.1
0-100: 9.2
12.4 @ 115.8 mph quarter mile
Not much difference. To be fair, the M3 had the dual clutch transmission with launch control, but still....? The GT 500 should kill the M3 in straight line power, even if it's traction limited at the beginning...only 3 mph trap speed difference. I would think the GT 500 could do 120 mph in the quarter mile. But it doesn't.
OK, I'm open to theories. The Mustang GT is by far the better Mustang for the power and especially the cost. You get almost the same acceleration for $15K less.

Pfft. You're overthinking all this.
Ask yourself which badge is cooler. Case closed. lol (j/k)
Completely agree. I've thought a LOT about the GT, for months, and I'm finally come to terms that if I do get one, the GT would be a much wiser choice (for me anyway.. based on $$$ and my concerns about engine life of a forced induction engine).
Of course, now I saw the Boss 302 so I'm back to squarefreekinone.
