need help cylinder 1 misfire issue

96 z3 1.9L, 153,000 miles... began running rough, about 10 miles ago... "check engine light" came on and it feels like running on 3 cylinders.... code is P0301, I have a "Cen-Tech CAN OBDII code reader"
I have replaced the spark plugs and got the same code,
then I did a bit of research and reading,
and took the leap and pickup up a new Coil pack replaced that and
At first it smoothed out then minutes later right back to running rough and cylinder 1 misfire P0301
    no power when accelerating

    Original plug wires?

Check #1 wire if original. If out of spec its way past time for new wires.
