    New Tire Time

I have a 528i with the sport package: Time for tires, yes I run winter rims and tires. Any thoughts out there I was thinking about Yoko's S drive, now running Kumo's which are worn and noisy as the devil. I drive about 8,000 miles per year and use summer tires, but can't justify too big of money Thanks

I'm getting ready to put summer tires on the 540iT. Looking at Continental Extreme Contacts, either the DW or DWS, haven't made up my mind. Really good reviews on TireRack. I, too run winter tires, use General Altimax Arctic.

On our 530i I have Dunlop Wintersports D3's for the cold stuff and General UHP for the summer. Have about 10k on the Generals and really like them. Quiet, very responsive and seem to be wearing really well. Our 530 is an Msport / 5 spd and gets driven spiritedly but is not tracked.

Oh, and for the record, the General AQrctics are ok, but I much prefer the Dunlop Winter D3's

I have the Conti DWS on my 530i. They're pretty good (quiet, nice ride and not too squirrely on corners). I've heard they can flat spot more than most if they are parked for any length of time.

I've had a couple of sets of the Continental ContiExtreme Contact DW and liked them a lot. They are quiet and handle well. I've had Kuhmo's to and don't like them at all.

I use Hankook Evo k12's for the summer. Very quite tire and sticks in the dry, quick turn in and no squeel, works good in the rain also. Very low prices tire. I have around 15K miles on them now and appear to be about half worn; most of it is negative camber wear; that will be fixed next week.

Tried the Yoko S.drives on our E36. Drove very nicely; Slightly soft sidewalls that Yokos are known for; Wore out a little faster than expected, and wore with the noisy heel-toe pattern typical of old B-Stone SO2s. Have to reverse direction frequently to defeat this noisy wear pattern, but the tread is directional. General UHPs are better, but we're lovin' the Conti DW's best of all on two of our 3-series (used Conti DWS for winter on the M3 that lives in Virginia).

You wont regret going with the Conti DWS's. I chose the Eagle gt's cause i like how mean they look on an e39 and they are cheaper than the Conti's. I would spend the money on Conti's or Pilots but here in NYC tires get destroyed before the tread is worn out. So its not worth getting the best.

Michelin PS2 which were the original tire on your car (I think). They were the original on my 2000 528i Sport. I don't have to deal with winter weather, but I do have to deal with heavy rain. The PS2 was in the design of the car, and the car is on rails, wet or dry.
