    Dorkfest 2011 - Official Announcement

    www.dorkfest.org

I have not posted frequently on this forum, but I do know that Roadfly was instrumental in bringing out a large percentage of the coupes that attended the original Dorkfest events. That is why I'm pleased to announce the revival of Dorkfest - the largest Z3 and M Coupe event in North America. Briefly, the date is Saturday, August 27, 2011; the location is the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, Northern California; and the purpose is to bring M/Z3 Coupes and their owners together.

I'll be the first to admit that I never went to any of the previous Dorkfest events, but I've heard the stories and seen the pics. There's a whole new generation of coupe owners who never got the chance to experience a sea of coupes, and there's a bunch of long-term coupe owners rearing to do it again. Is it still possible bring upwards of 50 Coupes together in one place? Spread the word and help us to find out August 27...

    Dorkfest Registration Page

Please register for Dorkfest 2011. We are reserving a free commemorative Dorkfest T-shirt (designed by Summereskimo) for each M/Z3 Coupe driver attending, be sure to give us your shirt size when you register. Additional Dorkfest T-shirts will be available at the event for $20, so reserve your extras too.

Those not attending can also purchase T-shirts, but we will announce those details later.

The event is two months away, so please help us get the word out. Here's the flyer if you'd like to print it out just in case you come across fellow coupe drivers on the road.

See our Dorkfest website and Facebook page.

31 people registered. Has anyone reserved a room yet? This weekend I'm going to stay at the The Best Western Danville Sycamore Inn. It is about $75 with a group rate and within 4 miles from the museum. So let me know if you want to stay there for Dorfest (right now they have 15 rooms available for August 26th), and I'll try to reserve a block of rooms.

Also, let us know if you are not attending, but want to buy a shirt for $20 plus $6 shipping.

    Dorkfest host hotel announcement:

The Best Western Danville Sycamore Inn.
    803 Camino Ramon
    Danville, CA 94526
    (925) 855-8888
    1-877-449-8888
    mfox@danvillesycamoreinn.com

    * We need to know how many rooms for the hotel to block off, so please email us and/or post here to let the hotel know how many rooms to put aside (I estimated 10-15), the dates (I estimated Fri 8-26 and Sat 8-27), and the bed configurations. Once we have a head count, each room can be secured separately under the group rate.

The group rate is $72 per night and parking and breakfast are included. This is the closest motel/hotel to the museum, approximately 4 miles away.

With less than two weeks to go, we have over 55 M/Z3 coupes registered. There's talk of the event breaking the US, or maybe event the British record  With that said, it's imperative that everyone arrive during the registration period of 9:30 to 10, as we will start snapping group photos at 10. Please be timely, as this will be the only time that you will be able to receive your registration packet, which includes the free t-shirt.

Sorry, excuse our exuberance but the t-shirts are almost done, and they look awesome IMHO

Props to Ian (summereskimo) for designing the logo and handling all the details :alright

We ordered 150 shirts, so we'll have plenty for sale after the event. Please help support Dorkfest by buying our shirts. There's no profit involved as the shirts we sell only offset the free shirts for all the attendees driving their coupes and printing costs. Thanks

I revised the schedule slightly shortening lunch to allow time for the raffle and start the museum tour earlier.

    9:30-10 : Arrival and registration
10-10:45: Group photos in the lower parking lot
10:45-11:30 Pictures at the museum plaza for groups of 15 coupes
    11:30-12:00: Raffle
    12:00: Lunch

    optional
    1:30 Museum tour
    3:00: Treasure Island Drive

The earlier you can arrive the better, and we will determine order for going up to the museum plaza for pics.

    BTW, the shirt is done

    How'd it go?

I was not able to attend the event but wanted to know how it went? How many cars? Any T Shirts left? I'll take a large if they run big, xlarge if they run small.

    Thanks,
    Rod

We had 56 M/Z3 coupes at the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, CA. Needless to say, we were very happy with the turn-out and only slightly disappointed that we narrowly missed the record. We found that the long-term owners are still passionate about their coupes, and the new generation is just as fanatical as the old.

Please go to our Facebook page if you'd like to comment on the event and see more pictures or add your own pictures. We have a few t-shirts left, so please contact us if you'd like to purchase one. dorkfest.org@gmail.com or we have links on our website and Facebook that will take you directly to Paypal. We have all sizes available except for small, but they run a little small, so a medium might fit a person who usually wears small.

    More pics HERE.

Time to blow out the last of the Dorkfest T-shirts - $15 shipped in CONUS and Canada, or two for $25 shipped (if you want two, pm or email me for an invoice). We have all sizes except small. Makes a great stocking stuffer
