Post your high mileage! Mine is 258,000

    I have a 97 Z3 2.8. I have owned it since May 2001 (purchased it with around 40k miles).

I now have about 258,000 miles on it!

Planning on keeping it through 300k miles if it will let me. I just spent $1500 replacing my fuel tank, pressure sensor, and differential bushing.

Anyone know the highest reported mileage on one of these cars so far?

Wow!!! That's great! We need to do some sort of contest site wide to see who's driving the highest mileage BMW.

Just rolled past 200k this past weekend. She has been a garage queen for the past 5 years but she's always ready for a road trip.

Y'all will never beat Z3BigDaddy. When asked about his mileage this last weekend, I believe his reply was 318,000.

2002 3.0i Roadster now at 124K Miles. Car has been a daily driver.

Just to say this is a great car does not acurately state how great it really is. Bought it new with 54 miles on the odometer. Between enjoy driving it so much and just liking the body styling it has been my and my wife's intention to keep it as long as possible. Sadly, it appears "as long as possible" is quickly approaching. It is just getting too expensive and too much work to keep everything working and maintaining its appearance.

I spent over $7,500 in the past year replacing leaking seals (valve cover, power steering, etc.), replacing both the A/C compressor and evaporator, repairing the 5 speed manual transmission (spring loaded detent to position shift lever), new alternator, new O2 sensors, new brake light switch, rotting hoses, new steering wheel cable reel, seat leather repairs, new brakes, new climate control assembly for center stack, etc. I also have to now consider refinishing the alloy wheels and repainting it as the paint is showing 8+ years of wear and tear and is not perfect. I have always taken very good care of it and the engine is clean enough to eat off of but age is just taking its toll. Although it is garaged every night it sits in the hot Florida sun at work every day.

We are now looking to see if we can find a good deal on a low mileage three year old Z4. The Z4 does not begin to have the styling the Z3 does and the Z4 is heavier and just does not have the feel the Z3 does. The old girl is just taking too much effort and expense to keep in perfect operating condition so I do not know what other choice we have. This is sad because it runs and drives so well.

How about another Z3? Low mileage examples are still out there. Whenever we sell our 2002 3.0L someone is going to get a great deal. Perfectly maintained and only 38,000 miles right now. Look around on ebay and Auto trader each week until something pops up that you like.

I have currently 260k miles and it still running amazingly. Purchased it for only 1500. And it's been the most fun I have ever had in a car. And I'm only 17!!
