    windows randomly stop working

my windows in my 93 e36 will randomly stop working sometimes after I wait a while it will start working again. I can press the reset button a million times but it wont do anything and then randomly it will start working again it would be fine I would deal with this but now the windows rolled down and its not working again. Why would the windows work one minute and then not the next and then also how do I roll up my window manually ?

Al - there isn't anything I can find in the Bentley manual regarding manual window operation.
I did see that some people have problems with corroded terminals. Try cleaning the ones you can get to. Ones behind the door panel will be harder, but I hear there are demo's on how to remove e36 door panels on youtube.
    Good luck...

Try slamming the door while holding down the window button. Has worked for me several times when the motor doesn't want to work. Doesn't really fix anything, but may get you're window up.

Search the forum. I posted this in 2004:
Wiring harness at LR trunk hinge
Common failure. Age and flexing cause wire insulation to fail, resulting in short circuit that blows fuse to the the comfort module, which in turn runs your power windows and sunroof. Simply patch/repair the damaged wires or replace that section of the harness (and then replace fuse).
