04 745i Engine bogging down every few seconds when driving 30-45mph.

Hi there. Just joined the forum today so please forgive me if this is an old subject. I just purchased an 04 745i with 80k. When driving around town at steady slower speeds(30-45mph) the car looses power or boggs down every few seconds. The bogg down/power loss is between 1-2 seconds long. The dealership has told me that everything is fine and no codes are coming up. When driving on the highway at higher speeds it runs fine. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The dealership warranty is about to expire. I'm not mechanically inclined but I don't think the car should perform this way.

    Thanks,

    Don

According to BMW forums the engine isn't bogging down it's a surge. A common problem seems to be an engine surge when the car is decelerating from 40mph. The remedy for this is a new torque converter. I gave the forum information to the dealer. Unfortunately, the dealer decided to increase the idle level of my car. It doesn't have the surge due to the high idle. I don't know what to do. Has anyone ever experienced this?
