I'm still here....
As near as I can determine I'm the second owner (well third if you count that BMW held the lease). It was originally leased by BMW of San Francisco. After the lease was up, it was purchased by the leasee and owned by them until sometime in 03. It sat on the used car lot for at least a month before I even stopped on a Saturday to take a look at it in October 03, it had 54k miles on it at the time. It's now got close to 130k miles, and I'm sure many more years and miles left on her.

Back in the old days when getting online was done primarily through either AOL or CompuServe dial-ups, Z3 enthusiasts were seeking each other out trying to get as much info as they could on this mythical car that was barely hitting the streets. For me, it was the BMW List Server - a group conversation joined by emailing "subscribe" to a List Server out there on the interwebs. It was the only fix available for those awaiting delivery of their inaugural year Z3. One of those emails must've led to finding the Z3 message board. As FredR mentioned, an offshoot from the Acura enthusiasts.
Around July of '97, some offline intentions by a handful of enthusiasts to visit Spartanburg got amped by the online message board into the first Z3 Homecoming. The factory was swamped with attendee requests and was doing all they could in responding with confirmations BY PHONE. The first convoy to Greenville was a message board collaboration. 11 roadsters tasked with a rendezvous point in Nashville. Among them, Alan, PeterZ, Robert & Spence from Texas, JohnB of Nashville, Lonnie from Kentucky, Kathy from California, Bob & Cricket from Arkansas...

Prior to Homecoming, Alan convinced a Florida dealer to be sole sponsor and thus came the second phase, Z3 message board hosted at QualityParts. When the community outgrew QualityParts, Alan moved the message board to bimmer.org. Toward the last years of homecoming, the Z3 message board became a part of Roadfly.
What was the question again? Oh yes. I'm still around. Bimmer.org had been my browser's homepage for over a decade before the message board moved to it's current digs. Nowadays I'll pull up Roadfly a few times a month to see how the fellow ol' timers are doing.

I've been around since the fall of 2000, so not quite since new. The car is a 97 and I'm the third (and final) owner. It's sitting at 79000 right now (I bought it at 27000). It only comes out on nice weather days and when I'm not deployed...which seems to be happening quite frequently these days.

Still here, since fall of '99 when I found this board. Bought my Z in Jan of 2000 and of course still have her. Close to 90K and I've had her in nearly every corner of the country, driving with my fellow Z-ers!
After 10 years of Minnesota winters, she now sits them out in favor of my 325xi.. but it just makes that first drive in the spring oh so much sweeter!'00 Z3 2.3 Oxford Green/Tan/Tan

Well, I still have my 98 1.9, it just turned 80k (and needed a lot of work), but I still haven't seen anything that makes me want to change cars. I've been coming here since I first found the site. One thing I do note, is that this is WAY more active than some other sites. Take a look at the Boxster site which is pretty quiet in comparison.
