    intermitent problem with idle

I have an 83 320i that developed this problem almost 2 years ago. It's been sitting all this time and I'm finally getting around to fixing it. It will start just fine when it's cold, hard warm starts but that's for another thread, after idling fine for about twenty minutes it just drops to nearly a stall. If you give it gas it will rev ok but you can tell something iis wrong. It feels weak and rough. I have just about ruled out the electrical system, amd I'm thinking it's a fuel problem but I'm not sure where to check next. Any ideas? I should also mention the normal idle is about 1,400, I know that's a problem as well.

    one more thing

I pumped it full of techron today. It ran the longest it has run in awhile before messing up. When it happens its like a switch was flipped, its quick. For the first time today it corrected itself after a few minutes of rough running. It eventually happaned again and never recovered. Any ideas?

    fixed it

I read a lot of old posts from this site. One thing I saw often was to check for vaccum leaks and loose wires. The problem turned out to be a bad relay. Car is running great!

Which relay was the bad one? Not directly related: On my 320i, I had odd electrical problems, and it we solved it by replacing the center relay in the fuse box called uploader.
