    2011 vs 2012 vs 2013 535i - Problems and New Features?

    I drive a 2001 530i manual, with 72500 miles. Everything still works, the car looks great, and I'm only driving the car a few thousand miles yearly (I've only filled the tank 5 times so far in 2012). However, I'm thinking about buying an F10 5-series, which would also have to have a manual transmission.

    Looking at CPO vehicles, I only see a couple at any given time when I look, and so far, only 2011 models. A new vehicle, equipped the way I'd want it, would sticker for about $62k or slightly higher, quite a shock compared to the $48k my current car cost.

    Does anyone know whether the first year cars had significant problems, and what they were? Are 2012 models significantly better? How about 2013 models?

    I know about run flat tires, and about the fact that BMW is forcing me to pay for an automatic even if I buy a manual trans. I know the new cars are larger and over 500 pounds heavier than my 5er. I've read the handling is not so great, but I don't really require sports car capability for my limited city driving and expected highway trips. What else should I know about the latest 5-series?

    Looks like Roadfly is a shadow of its former self. Two months since I asked a fact / opinion question, and not a single reply! Maybe BMW buyers today don't include any enthusiasts....
