    Coolant leak

I have a 1995 525i w/214k miles. Everything seems ok except coolant system. Car gets hot, steam sometimes, no white smoke from tail, no oil in water or water in oil. there is a small leak near the right rear of engine block/head area. I haven't fully isolated it but have seen coolant dripping down side of block. I'm no stranger to auto repair, but at 66 I am losing my enthusiasm for crawling around my car. Car is decent enough with that fixed, good runaround parts getter. If I don't get it solved, it will be for sale.

Check the water pump, if it is the old style plastic impeller, the impeller might be lose and rotate on the shaft without conveying much coolant. Also check the return hose from the radiator to the expansion tank, that this is not blocked, there must always be a small flow of coolant back into the expansion tank.
