No Oil Pressure after oil filter gasket blewout
Thank you in advance for any and all thoughts or ideas concerning my problem.
While my 1980 320i was idling after start up the oil filter gasket blew out and leaked about a quart of oil.
Placed the gasket back in the filter and tightened, refilled oil and after restarting there was no oil pressure. Confirmed by checking oil filter that was still empty.
Pulled oil pan to check the oil pump. Pump gear is still secure to shaft, the chain was fine and the sprocket was still affixed to shaft. gears appear to be fine. The pressure releif valve was a little sticky.
Cleaned the relief valve, confirmed that there was no blockage between the orifice the oil pump mates to and the oil filter.
Put it all back together and still NO oil pressure.
At this point, it has baffled me.
