What does 7J,7.5J,etc. means on a wheel?

I have been thinking about replacing the original 15 inch wheel on my 328i, but I am not sure what the numbers such as 7J means? Is 15X7J going to be able to take a 225mm tire? or do I need to upgrade it 7.5J or 8J? What do these number represent? width?

    Thanks
