    What does J in 8.5J x 18 mean?

What does the J mean in rim sizes - as in 8.5J x 18?

That means that wheel has a diameter of 18 inches and a width of 8.5 inches.

    Scott,

I'm not 100% sure about this but if memory serves me correctly, J and JJ refer to the angle of the flange in relation to the bead seat. I know they differ, but not by much. Don't ask me what the specific angle is for each letter, but it is not something that requires special tires or anything. It is a code that wheel manufacturers must adhere to. Any wheel manufacturers want to weigh in on this?
