    fuel door release

Just went to fill the fuel tank and the release will not release the fuel door cover, anyone had this problem? Any quick ideas, I hate to have to take the car into the dealer for something this dumb.

    Re: fuel door release

Saw this recently on the board. Apparently the spring stucks, or collapses or something.

Hold the release lever up, and slide a credit card or similar into the door and pop it open. You may need to lodge something under the lever if you don't have anyone with you.

Check the spring. If it's just bent, you might be able to straighten it, otherwise get your dealer to replace.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. The dealer had to replace a retainer clip.

I had the same problem with 5 miles left in my tank. Brendan has the right idea. I pulled on the lever up and down in the cabin while my friend tryed to pop the door open. it worked and the clip was bent.

    Re: fuel door release

I finally got the door open, the problem was the "spring deal" that pushes the door open. It got bent back and was out of place. Adjusted it an now the door swings out about 1 1/2 inches on pulling the release. Will take matter up with service manager when I go in for my next service. Thanks to all who responded with good advice.
