    Cajuns like BMWs

    Guys,

I had sold my 3.25 open diff to someone in Lafayette, LA, several months ago. With different schedules, it was hard to find a weekend that I would be home that he could make the 1.5-hour drive to Alexandria and pick up the diff. This past Saturday, we had time to finally meet.

At about 2 Saturday afternoon, Glenn called and asked if it would be a good time for him to come pick up the diff. I said it would, and, after chatting for a few minutes about the changes that have come across our board, he left for Alexandria.

At about 3:30, he pulled up. I was taking pictures and measurements of the two different diffs (more on that in another thread). The first impression I had of Glenn's 528e was "WOW. It looks much nicer in person!!"

After chatting about a few things we've done with our 528e's, I learned that Glenn has a one-year-old paint job that cost him about half of what you would normally think it would cost for a paintjob of this caliber. His Delphin Gray is now a few shades darker, but, after looking under the hood at the original paint, I decided I liked the new shade a bit better. His paint is absolutely PRISTINE. It made me want to go to the shop that did his that very day, lol.

Another interesting thing he's done is used Kiwi Shoe Polish on all of the black parts of the bumper. Mine are almost gray they look so bad. His were a nice, shiny (NOT Armorall shiny!!) black, exactly how they should look. He said that he did that a few months ago. It's obviously held up surprisingly well through rain, car washes, and intense southern Louisiana heat (we're talking 100+ degrees from the beating sun, guys).

He and I (and my mom) talked for all of two hours, and the only thing keeping us from talking well into suppertime was the fact that I had to go get ready to pick my date up for a Prom at 6:00!! He left at 5:30, and I had just enough time to jump in the shower, throw my tux on (I HATE those damn things), and swing by her house.

All in all, it was a most excellent meeting, and I hope to see him -- as well as the other Lafayette BMW enthusiasts -- some time in the near future. Below is a pic of Glenn and me. Me on the left, him on the right. His car on the left, mine on the right.

Thanks again for a great meeting, Glenn!

Almost missed prom to talk about your BMW?

I've got an e36 and an e24, and love them both, BUT trust me, a prom with your date is NOT to be missed discussing these!

    Trust your prom went well.
