M3 sport/normal throttle mapping pics inside!

Here is the throttle mapping as I have determined on my own car.
I have the Excel spreadsheet file if anyone wants it. Maybe it could be posted as a download in Loki's FAQ if people are interested?

    Zoomed graphs:

    Excellent info! Thanks. (m)

In my minds eye, I have pictured graphs such as these on many occasions trying to describe the difference between Sport and Normal Modes. I just never had the raw data to make the graphs. What is your souce for the data, BTW?

    What was your motivation?

Just to understand the different modes, or are you planning to change the response? I think Scost G. has the linear throttle response.

How did you really measure this?

It seems like good work, but from what I know of electronic drive by wire systems the numbers seem a bit too simplistic for something like an M3 controller.

Most of the controllers I've been exposed to (My best friend builds them) have many input matricies to match the many different inputs. Other data like torque, wheelslip, humidity, engine temp, air temp, and so on, typically result in a different throttle mapping matrix.

One simple example would be on SMG downshifts the throttle gets "blipped" to match revs. All this happens without any movement of the throttle (I verified this many many times :-]).

Please don't take this as a flame posting.. it's not meant that way. You certainly have put a lot of work into this. I'd just like to get all the information.

I will post a detailed msg later about how it was

done. Basically, with the car at rest, dial gauge on gas pedal and ohmmeter on TPS.

Motivation: I don't like conjecture. Too mcuh

guessing about what Sport mode really does. I had to figure it our for myself!

No flame taken. You may be right. I took all the

measurements with the car at rest, ignition key at run position (to activate electronic throttle). BTW it is a 6sp.

I will post more details later tonight so this can be repeated by anyone, and we can see if there is any variation.

If there is a "matrix" as you say, that could be measured as well, but would require a computer for data logging, and voltage measurement instead of resistance.

I just wish a had a digital camera so I could post a couple of pics. That would make it a lot easier to understand.
