Did anyone else stay up all night tonight?

I practiced my constable-avoidance techniques by playing GTA for PS2 for about 12 hours straight, today and tonight. I finished @ 5:15, this morning, and am now finally finishing up my e-mails and posts at 6:10AM.

If you have my phone number, don't call or I'll be forced to find out where you live, hunt you down, and dream of doing very bad things of you.

If you have my e-mail address (well, everyone does; it's right up there at the top of the post), don't bet on getting a reply before about 10PM tonight (Thursday).

I'm out (in more ways than one)

    Louisiana's great! .... except for bugs & heat (m)

There's nothing wrong with Louisiana. Whereas central and northern Louisiana is full of podunk rednecks, southern Louisiana (where you'll be) has many nice Cajuns that show you that southern hospitality you've always heard about.

Be sure you have SPF 45 for long outside walks and bug spray for night time.

There's a plethora of CCAers down south. Up north, old BMW drivers are hard to find (at least where I'm from).

If I'm ever down around NO, I'll post to the board or e-mail you.

    Can't wait to water ski!

I grew up in Alexandria, well, Pineville and Kincaid Lake to be exact. I went to school at LSU for eight years, yep eight nice long years. Too damn fun, I mean eight nice long years of too much damn fun. 2 degrees, about 50 LSU football games, and water skiing/public drunk all the time. It's hot, but I have a boat.

Finding a good job is tough in the Big Easy, but then again, its tough everywhere.

So many fun times in A-town... I have some great friends there.

What do you study at Tech?

I wish there were more Cajuns in New Orleans. Lafayette is where you can really get crawfish. I'm craving 'em soooo bad.

    Wanna race?

Hey. I agree there is nothing like the big easy. When I ws there at least strngers talked to you. Also there was the crime. at least 3-7 muders a day in the big easy.

Nothing like going to the lake front on a friday afternoon playing crouquet, drinking dixie and eating popeye's.

    I miss it.

Re: Can't wait to water ski!

I'm studying Finance at Tech. It's fun, and I should be done next summer. I'm going to spend my last year working on a minor or two. Unfortunately, there's only like one or two Philosophy classes. I would be ALL OVER that minor. Instead, I'll probably do German and Management minors.

If it's crawfish season, you can get them all over central and north Louisiana. I'm surprised you can't get them farther down south!

Oh, and about Alexandria, there is NOTHING to do here, lol. When I was in high school, I was so ready to leave. Then there's Ruston. It's even smaller, and the alcohol prohibition has kept all of the restaurants and other businesses out of town, but at least Monroe is 15 minutes down the interstate.

Anyhoo, if I'm ever down south, I'll let everyone know. There seems to be a good bit of old BMW drivers down there.

I live in San Francisco, for now.

I'm moving to New Orleans in a couple of months. I moved out to San Francisco after graduate school in Baton Rouge.

Advice: Do an summer internship with a company you'd be interested in working for.

The competition is fierce! I moved out to Silicon Valley with a BS in physics and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from LSU. Anyway, I've found it hard to get ahead. My rent is $1850/mo and everything is just plain expensive.

Enough of that. I wasn't saying that there were no crawfish in New Orleans, I was just commenting on how the people are more Cajun in Lafayette.

I responded to your post with E12er because I drive a 1980 528i, well, when its working.

I had a great time growing up in Aexandria. We were crazy. So many places to hang out, that the cops never knew. No entertainment except what your friends could supply, so we ended up being hellions, for each other of course.

Anyway, your car looks great. Do you find the 'e' is fast enough?

Is the "e" fast enough? ARE YOU KIDDING?!!!!

The eta engine is SLOW AS FROZEN P*SS! Especially with the slushbox I've got.

In August, I plan to do the auto-to-manual swap one week and the e-to-i swap the next. That should make it a bit quicker. With a few more modifications, it'll be quicker than a stock e28 535i. Somewhere down the road, I want to stroke it to 3.0l and then work on a turbo setup. Ahhh, the sweet smell of POWA!!! ; -)

    Did you go to ASH?

What year donor car are you looking for? THe M30 from the e12 is nice, did they make the 2.8i in the e34? Are you just gonna get the whole thing from one car, the 5 speed and the engine? Check out the engine swap FAQ on www.firstfives.org. They put an e28 3.5 in an e12. Its really cool. I know the guys who wrote that, and the gold e12 is a masterpiece. Later.

I went to Menard, but all the hot chics went to ASH.

Bolton. And I'm not doing an engine swap (more)

I'm going to try to stroke my current engine to a 3.0! That's after the e-to-i, and I may or may not stroke it anyway. Ireland Engineering has kits for 2.8l, 3.0l, and 3.2l strokers on the 2.5l m20 (325i engine). They do all kinds of stuff with it that's not necessary, so I think I could use mostly stock parts to get it to where I want it for much cheaper.

As for high school, I graduated from Bolton 2 years ago. Both of my parents went there, and most of my aunts and uncles, as well. My mom's brother, who's four years younger than her, was one of the few that went to ASH. He went there when they first opened.

    Until next time. . .

    Bolton is cool.

My mom taught math at Bolton a long time ago. I have some great friends who went there. Better education than ASH. Much better than Menard. Is the E28 'e' just different injection and brains than the older 'i'?
I can't keep my car working. I changed the fan clutch last night, but it still overheats. Maybe radiator, maybe the new thermostat, maybe the new fan clutch is garbage. I don't pretend to be a mechanic, well I do until I can't fix it, then I use that as my excuse.
My parents had a physical therapy clinic on Bolton Ave for 15 years, now they work for Rapides. I used to ride my touring bike right by Bolton HS on my way to the Aquatic Club by the mall. When I was in school Menard didn't have a football stadium, so we played at Bolton on Thursdays, that's pretty lame though.
I should get back to work.

The 528e engine is completely different than 528i

The 528e engine is a stroked version of the M20 325i engine. It has a different head, pistons, cam, springs, etc that give it more torque at a lower RPM but NO high-rpm horsepower (the rev limit is below 5k).

The Super Eta built only in '88 has a 325i head and pistons (I think it has the same pistons) but still the mild cam and springs.

The 528i engine was a smaller version of the 535i engine, IIRC. But, I could be wrong.

    Anyway, they're two different engines.
