    528e/535I differences

Can anyone tell me what the differences between an '84 528e and an '85 535I. Also are the ECUs interchangeable?

    60 hp
If the ECU #'s match. They both should be a # 0-261-200-027 OR 0-261-200-007

The 528e has a smaller engine that is belt driven for the cam. The 535i has the big six with chain drive. The ecu's won't be interchangeable.

    engine

diff engine - (I've had both) - the 528e was same engine as the 325e - a low hp, but torguey 6 designed for good gs mileage - e=eta=efficiency. A great car.

The 535i was the top of the line 5 - much more hp, tons of torgue, leatehr interior, "premium" stereo. Also a great car.

    ECU prob. not interchangeable.

    Can't go wrong with either.
