    86' 535i start problem

    Hello,

I'm new to this forum, well in a manner of speaking. This is my first actual posting, but I have become qute familiar with all the archives. These have been a great resource when it comes to my 86' 535i!
About a month and a half ago this car began to have a strange random no start problem. Started and ran great for couple of days and then would just not start at all. All power there but just a click. Then don't drive for a few hours and would start right up. After talking to a few fellow 5-series owners and looking through archives, my husband decided to go ahead and change out the relays and check all the fuses. It seemed this did the trick, the car has not given us a single start problem for the past month-until this morning. Same thing all over again. So, my question is...what else could be the matter? Relays don't go bad that quickly, do they? Oh, by the way I'm wondering if it has somnething to do with colder nighttime and early morning weather. Our area just got colder again after having a bit of a sudden winter warm spell. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! And if the answer is in an archive, just point us to it-sometimes it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack!
    Thanks again for your help,
    C&K
