How to replace the Seatbelt Receiver?

Ok - after 14 great years the driver side seatbelt receiver (the female piece attached to the seat with the Orange button) has given up the ghost and does not lock any longer. This is a huge safety issue.....

How difficult is this to replace and where can I get the part?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    It's simple...

Remove the four bolts holding down the seat with a 17mm closed end wrench, then use the same wrench to remove the bolt holding the "female" end on the seat frame. I mean really, did you even look down there to see how it was attached, or did you just run straight here? Christ.....

Re: How to replace the Seatbelt Receiver?

Reasonably easy if you have at average length fingers or more. Buy the part from your BMW dealer. Remove the seat belt sensor control wire … found underneath your seat from the back. Remove the remove seat hinge bolt. Hang onto the bolt with you fingers and pull out. Remove the seat belt part. Set the new part in pace and gently work the seat bolt down and through the seat belt part and thread it into the seat hinge. DON’T move or lean on the back of the seat while you are doing any of this. You need to maintain the alignment of the seat parts so that the seat bolt aligns and threads easily.

It a lot of words, but its easier than it looks and sounds. Good luck. It took me about 5 minutes when I did it last about 2 years ago.

    Re: It's simple...

No - I didn't take anything apart yet - no point in screwing the pooch & disassembling a bunch of stuff I don't have to. While I know my way around a toolbox - I figure I would ask those that have done this before me instead of just hacking around.

I really DO appreciate your prompt response though - just out of curiosity - can I use a receiver from the rear seats for the driver seatbelt?

Thanks again for the info AND your time.

No, I thought of this, but it will not werk. I can remove one fro a parts car for you and send it out for 10$ plus the cheapest shipping I can find. Let me know and as always, if I can help, I'll do it as sparingly as possible.
