Why is my driver side floor board wet???

Every now and then my carpet is wet on my driver side and I cannot tell where the liquid is coming from. I think the liquid is water, but im not 100% sure. This wetness has occured more frequently now than it has in the past. I don't want my floor board to start rusting on me so I would like to figure out where this liquid is coming from, and how I can stop it. Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Chris

could be a number of things

heater core might be going? blocked sunroof drains, i even heard that it might actually be the slave cyl if its a 5 speed. most likely you have a blocked sunroof drain. the first 2 are kinda rare.

    hope this helps

The floor boards are usually soaked when this happens. Can you explain to me how the blocked sunroof could cause my floor boards to become soaked. I mean I'm sure it's possible but I'd like to know how this happens. I appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    blocked sunroof drains

are common. Use an air compressor to blow them out.

my 535i bottom left corner of the windshield was..

leaking and it was running down the A pillar area to the floor and soaking the carpet. I used silicon sealant on the inside and outside along that corner and it fixed it.

    you can try this

open the sunroof and get a cup of water and pour it down the sides where the "gutter" is. then look and see where the water is co,ing from. I know there is a website for this but I forget where I saw it, probly on this board just search the archives. but this reminds me of a website i saw just search the archives you will find it. also you might have a bad windshield gasket but i hear thats rare also.

i hear you need to have the sunroof open a lot

for this to occur. but hey it could be the problem. ever see the dirt that gets trapped up there?

nope, the sunroof "seals" don't keep h2o out

Water drains into the sunroof drains. If they are clogged up, you will get water drips. Open your roof and take a peak.

    i\'ll try that

I will give it a try later and see what happens. If it's clogged then i'll blow it out like derek said.

    Thanks for the helpful information,

If that is the case, the brake fluid light

should light up. You would also be loosing brake fluid from the reservior.

I had the same prob on my 535i. I could see

water dripping past the seal when it rained. If I pressed on the seal it got worse.
