    as an aside

I tried some of the stuff on a piece of gum that was cooked onto an old office chair we've had sitting in a storage room for years at my office - I could not get the gum to come off with Meguires but Pristine Clean took the gum right off - draw your own conclusions as to whether it has any agressive components from that.

Wow, that's hard to swallow ->

I have used leatherique a dozen times, and the results are always stellar on my black leather. I am in disbelief, but I trust your word. Perhaps you got a bad batch (pH off, etc), but I should think that the people over at leatherique would have been more helpful. At the very least send you a replacement (damage already done though) in order to evaluate the batch that they sent you. I am definitely a strong proponent of this product (no affiliation), and am sorry to see this happen to you or anyone. Its like a zaino/P21S/zymol user saying that paint come off while waxing. Scary.

    i agree(m)

i used it once - w/n use it again. i think it is far more appropriate for restoration than conditioning. i now use leather cleaner and conditioners made by platinum /4 star products - so far the absoultue best conditioner i have tried (tried conoly hide car - that is also an excellent choice btw)

same people that make platinum polymer wax?

i didn't know they made leather products... maybe i'll try it out.

i agree about using the Leatherique for restoration... i will continue to use it but only when my leather starts to feel dry and really in need of a deep conditioning, so maybe once every 6-9 months.

in the meantime i need something to clean the surface of the leather... something that is quicker to use. so maybe i'll try the Platinum conditioner.

a customer should never be told to get lost...

Sounds like Leatherique is a product I would stay away from, most especially because of the way they treated you, Mike.

Goeorge, of Leatherique, you should be sent to CUSTOMER SERVICE 101. This is no way to gain the respect of the automotive community along with customers and prospective customers alike.

    2 different products(m)

i don't like top condition the leather too often, and have used aerospace 303 for years as my cleaner/protectant. the guy who owns 4 star products/platinum sent me his new cleaner and the conditioner a little time ago - brand new product. I was amazed how much dirt the cleaner took off. the conditioner has a 'new car leather' smell - not my favorite but not too bad either. i just leave the doors open after i use it and the smell is gone in 5-10 minutes anyway. The product itself is excellent - tell him to send you a sample.

that is his web site (m)

he is the owner of 4 star products - commercial detailing supplies. i usually call him - great guy. i buy his platinum car wash by the gallon as well as his quick detail spritz. i use platinum to top my klasse aio/SG and most people are amazed at the results - ask zoli, andres - the miami gang. (platinum has oil, much like blackfire, so it isn't as durable as zaino or klasse but as a topper - it makes the finish look like candyapple/pearlesece paint)

Bad reaction to the Meguire\'s product?

I used the Meguire's stuff once and HATED it. My leather looked blotchy for several weeks. I now use the Klasse product on the interior -- leather, plastic, vinyl, rubber -- but not very often. I think the less you do to the leather the better, as long as it doesn't dry out.

I'm wondering if the Leatherique worked too aggressively in trying to remove the Mequire's oil, which had worked its way into the leather.

    the M3 one is not

at least so far as I can tell (and I put myself through college selling high end furniture so its a pretty good guess) - the other thing is that Leatherique claims that their stuff is save for vinyl as well...

who knows, but that's as likely as my alien theory

armrest fine, apply leatherique finish starts coming off - cause and effect is pretty straight forward for me. I did not see anything on the bottle or on hteir site that said that it may react to other products and it was not brought up by Leatherique in any of their communication with me after the fact (and I did mention it)... God knows, they blamed everyone else (me, BMW, divine intervention, etc).

    ah cool.

the Blackfire stuff is packaged almost exactly the same (except with black bottles). i wonder if the same source manufactures the products with different polymer recipes.

i like the Blackfire... the waxy/pearlescent effect is great on CB.
